#VOD (Verse of the Day): “Someone will say, “I am allowed to do anything.” Yes; but not everything is good for you. I could say that I am allowed to do anything, but I am not going to let anything make me its slave.” 1 Corinthians 6:12 GNT
Yep, you can do most anything you want in this country…
You can stay up late watching TV.
You can sleep as late as you want. And you can wake up in a frantic rush to get ready to get to work.
You can eat anything you want. Pretty much instantly. You can even have it delivered right to your door.
You can drink anything you want. Even if it causes migraine headaches, seizures, or even cancer.
You can complain, gossip, and slander others. You can even do it hiding behind a computer or a mobile phone.
You can never, ever exercise. I mean, why put yourself through some pain and sweat???
You can go get you some warm Dunkin’ Donuts this morning.
You can get a $6/700 calorie Starbucks drink, yet not buy the organic apples because they cost $1 more.
You can act like a 3rd grader and not drink a superfood smoothie because it doesn’t taste exactly like a McDonald’s milkshake.
You can take a daily handful of RX pills, and deal with the side effects, instead of a handful of supplements just because your insurance covers the RX and doesn’t the supplements. I mean, you’re paying for that insurance, use it!!!
You can easily waste 30 minutes on a social media site instead of reading a good book, or better yet, reading the Bible.
You can worry about everything you can’t control instead of praying about it.
You can dwell on yourself instead of focusing on what Jesus has done for you and how you can let others know about it.
You can dwell on what you don’t have or you can write down 3 things you’re thankful for. Just 3…
You can have another sleepless night, confused about how you’re going to deal with this huge issue in your life instead of getting up early and let God, the one full of all wisdom, tell you what to do.
You can say you don’t believe God speaks to you, you don’t know if he’s real, instead of getting up early, alone, in an undistracted environment where you can actually hear His voice.
You can say you’re too tired, too busy, too much to do with work, to spend time with God, exercise, make a superfood smoothie, journal, plan your day, and take supplements first thing in the morning, only to miss several hours, and even days of work because you keep having those migraine headaches, digestive issues, and blood pressure you can’t get under control.
You can believe the lies from others, or in your head, about how you’ll never be good enough because you’ve done too many bad things, or you can get up early and let the one who died for you tell you this: “Some of you were like that. But you have been purified from sin; you have been dedicated to God; you have been put right with God by the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God.”1 Corinthians 6:11 GNT
I can go on and on and on. But if you’re struggling with any of these, the bottom line is that maybe you don’t truly get this…
“Don’t you know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit, who lives in you and who was given to you by God? You do not belong to yourselves but to God; he bought you for a price. So use your bodies for God’s glory.” 1 Corinthians 6:19-20 GNT
Now that you know… ACT LIKE IT!!!
P.S. One of my favorite pastors, Chris Hodges, recently spoke about the parable The 100X Life is based on. He basically said that if your soil is not doing well, you may need to grow up a little bit.
Here’s a quote from this message: “Maturity comes when we stop making excuses and start making changes.”
